چکیده

Vision is a very important issue developing artiicial anthropomorphic systems. Starting from traditional knowledge about ocular movements, mainly due to physiological observations , the paper revisits primary ocular processes and proposes some new ideas for oculomo-tor control. It is shown that using space-variant sampling, pursuit, vergence and saccadic process are considerably simpliied. The concept of binocular fusion is easily implemented and becomes very important in order to segment a candidate target from the background and perform continuous tracking over time. A set of experiments on real data demonstrates that space-variant processes can be fruitfully integrated in a simple hardware platform.

Diagnostic Screening with the Vestibular Autorotation Test (VAT)

The primary purpose of the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) is to allow clear vision during walking and other faster movements. These occur at frequencies greater than 1 Hz. Other oculo-motor systems, such as smooth pursuit and optokinetic, respond poorly at these higher frequencies. The VOR functions as the major oculo-motor system responsible for maintaining visual fixation during faster head mo...

D . C . Functional Organization 01 the Ocular Motor System

DELL'OSSO, L. F., and R. B. DARoFF. Functional organization of the ocular motor system. Aerospace Med. 45(8) : 873-875, 1974. Various stimuli, other than a moving target, have evoked slow eye movements improperly designated "pursuit." Attempts at ex plaining these eye movements have provoked convoluted hypo theses. This confusion can be alleviated by conceptualization of the ocular motor cont...

Ocular dominance development revisited.

New approaches to the study of ocular dominance development, a model system for the development of neural architecture, indicate that eye-specific columns in primary visual cortex emerge substantially before the onset of the critical period, during which neural connections can be altered by visual experience. The timing, speed and specificity of column emergence implicate molecular patterning m...

A Novel Presentation of an Ocular Geste Antagoniste in Cervical Dystonia: A Case Report

BACKGROUND A geste antagoniste or sensory trick is a well described phenomenon associated with primary cervical dystonia. Craniocervical tactile stimulation or stereotyped limb movements allow patients to transiently ameliorate dystonic activation of cervical musculature. CASE REPORT We report a patient with primary cervical dystonia who presented with a novel "ocular" geste antagoniste. Thro...

Ocular Dipping in Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease

BACKGROUND Ocular dipping (OD), or inverse ocular bobbing, consists of slow, spontaneous downward eye movements with rapid return to the primary position. It has been mainly reported following hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, but has also been described in association with other types of diffuse or multifocal encephalopathies and structural brainstem damage. CASE REPORT We report the case of ...
